A sad time in my family Posted by Pam T on 6/25/2019, 3:04 pm We had a tragic death in our family a couple of days ago. Andy's sister in law was in a horrible car accident. She was married to Andy's brother, Bill. She was from the Philippines and next month would have been their 44th anniversary. They met as pen pals and he eventually traveled there and they married in 1975. Made for each other is the only way to describe them. Dhing (nick name) was a force of nature! She was a tiny thing, but a powerhouse! She lived here in the USA since she was 20 yrs old, but never lost her thick accent and loved to tell the most outrageous stories of her youth. Like my sweet Filipino daughter in law, Elaine, she made me laugh to tears. Our hearts are broken. It's been a rough couple of days. I just got back from dropping Andy at the airport so he can go stay with his brother for a week. Anyway...sorry to unload here. You never know what life has in store. Or when we may say good-by to a loved one for the last time. This was in the front of my mind as I said good-by to Andy. I'm tracking his flight just to keep me from worrying. Thanks for listening.

Their oldest daughter wasn't able to get there until then. I wish I was there, but we couldn't afford to plane tickets and it was more important for Andy. My heart is there with them though. Andy is exhausted and can't wait to get home. Hug your loved ones.

And I, like many others, often dont say anything to those suffering loss for fear it will be the wrong thing. I'm going to take a risk here and say that, with the recent loss of a very dear lived-in-the-house pet/child, I have begun to learn the lesson of experiencing grief, then choosing to express gratitude that I had that presence in my life. (That must be what people aim for when they have a "celebration of their life" style funeral.) At first, you HAVE TO cry your eyes out...you wouldn't have a heart if you didn't... But then I think the greatest honor you can show for that person is to truly DWELL on how lucky you were that you had them at all. HUGS

I am so sorry to hear of your family's loss. May Dhing rest in peace. I will say a prayer for Andy's safe trip and his safe return. Amen!
