Happy Fourth of July everyone- Let's celebrate our freedom today. Out forefathers gave their lives to gain independence from oppression. Presently, and I stress about this a lot) we may all have to fight to hold onto our First Amendment rights and our right to vote in free elections without foreign interference. Let's also celebrate freedom of choice to have better health and a healthier lifestyles by doing our Cambridge.
My dear poor husband had gallbladder surgery with complications, has a drainage tube and is in pain but bless his heart, today, he is going to grill some brats, ribs, and chicken for our company .
My cellulitus turned to lymphedema. Due to lymphedema both of my legs are wrapped from knee to toes with chamomile wraps. The only shoes I can wear are flip flop sandals. My left foot and leg are so swollen then even wide shoes will not fit over the bandages and it feels like one big bruise. I go back to the hospital clinic tomorrow to have my legs checked and have chamomile wraps put on. I haven't been able to work because the steel toe shoes won't fit.
I am not doing Cambridge SS right now- have no appetite but want to start fresh tomorrow and try the SS. There are better days ahead!
So sorry to hear this MaryL. Did you not have lymphedema before the cellulitis? I've had many clients over the years that had lymphedema that got infected and turned to cellulitis, but not the other way around. What do the camomile wraps do? Do you get any relief with them? I'm sorry to hear of your husbands complications too. Was it infection? I can't believe that with all you are both dealing with that you were entertaining too. I hope you can both take some time for healing.Take care.
Pam, I feel like a scatter brain. I forgot to answer some of your questions.
My husband didn't have infection. For several weeks he had been holding his right side and when I asked him about it he would always say it was nothing or that he was fine. Just before his surgery he had bouts of belching, nausea,& other stomach issues. Because the gall bladder was enlarged the resulting surgery was a little more than the usual laparoscopy procedure. It required more time under anesthesia and an additional incision. A three hour or less surgery took 5 hours. He is fine now thankfully.
The chamomile wraps were used for compression and to sooth the burning that accompanies cellulitus and the itching that accompanies the gravitational eczema. Exterior wraps were used to hold the chamomile wraps in place and because they are messy..They served their purpose but I hope to never have to wear them again because they are hot and after a couple of days they itch.I could sleep at night with them. I am grateful that they helped my condition.
I think I answered everything now. Miss you and hope you are doing well.
Pam, thank you and all others for their kind words during my husband's recovery, and my recovery. In response to your comment and despite what your other clients have said, you can have water retention issues that aren't relate to lymphedema and you can contract cellulitus without having lymphedema. My sister had it in her finger last week. She doesn't have lymphedema but like me she has the veinous insufficiency in her legs and has frequent bouts with cellulitus in her legs as well.
Now thankfully I will be working towards better health, and as in other conditions that never really go away I will need to work to maintain on a daily basis. I hope to begin SS very soon.
Hi Pam I have gravitational eczema which started in my thirties, and also fractured my left leg tibia (spelling?) in 2002. For years I had problems with swelling, and I have always retained water. The swelling was a concern after I developed Cellulitus back in 2007 but the doctor that tried to help me prescribed steroids & diuretics, one after the other that I was allergic to. He sent me to see a dermatologist who poo pood the idea of treating my skin issues with an elimination diet, treating my leg issues with a steroid cream instead. I think doctors can not address all issues because for one thing, they aren't God, and they have time constraints and often times limited resources. The clinic that I usually go to is sooo busy that they had no appointments available on July 2nd so, lucky for me, my other option was to go to the local hospital urgent care and ER department. I was fortunate that the ER staff acknowledged the reoccurrence rashes, and cellulitus were related to the lymphedema which the other clinic doctor had already diagnosed. I am back to work, and doing better, still swollen, but thanks to the specialty clinic connected to the hospital am on my way to a recovery and treatment plan that will stay with me the rest of my life.
My husband is doing really well considering his gallbladder surgery had complications.
We had a really nice 4th of July and wouldn't have been able to see our grandson and daughter the next weekend so we were happy to have the time with them. My older sister came over too. We just took our time doing the cook out. I made Potato Salad the day before, and precooked some of the barbecue. My husband did fine. We spent a lot of time having others wait on us.
I am not SSing yet- just watching what I eat very carefully. There are better days ahead. You take care. Everyone have a good evening.
