yes, telling someone is a tough choice, though ultimately it's about trust. everybody's got their quirks, their skeletons in the cupboard; just remember that.

your boyfriend might understand more if you tie into certain behaviours that he's already aware of ("you remember when we were invited to stay over at..."

btw, i agree with you that there must be some biological programming around peeing and poohing. like you say, you're at your most vulnerable to predators when doing them, and like you say, the scent they leave could be a way for a predator to track you.
