Dyslexia"
First, you need to understand that dyslexia is simply a term used to describe a reading disorder which can have many different underlying causes, any of which may also relate to other types of academic and behavioral difficulty. In other words, dyslexia, in and of itself, would not typically cause the other difficulties you describe but is more likely related to a more global underlying issue. In addition to reading, you describe difficulties in writing, math, and emotional/behavioral regulation. The common themes you describe suggest underlying difficulty with sequential/rational processing and/or executive functioning – both of which are commonly associated with an attention deficit disorder (ADD/ADHD). So I’m hoping you are still considering the possibility of ADD/ADHD, which could actually be the underlying cause of all of his issues.
