have not heard of moki being caught in the area, as Jase has said further south or on the east coast is best, you are in some of the best snapper fishing area in NZ- boat and surfcasting, I fish the area alot and do very well, alot of grot sharks(rig) are around at the moment with them being caught up to 18 lb in some areas, the snapper are there as well just need to target them,
