How strange, when I fished surfcasting competitions in the UK forty years ago, by far the largest number of fish bought to the scales were flounders. The most popular bait was peeler or soft back crabs, followed by marine worms, red or white rag worm. Great sport with a good feed to follow. I am given to understand because of the lack of control over continental beam trawlers, this fish has become almost a rarity.
