RP, I was also on the beach at Marine Parade. The weed was evident but not really a nuisance, on the other hand some beautiful kahawai were running and we had a ball. These were really fat fish and I am about to sit down for a feed, so are two of my neighbours.

At about 2:00pm the wind changed direction, the temperature rose and the weed completely disappeared. Another plus, the crabs that have been present recently, were conspicuous by their absents. I brought home four nice fish and had the most glorious lunging run and bite off (40lb nylon trace) but I believe this was probably the work of a barracouta.
