I once broke an Orvis fly rod by shutting it in the tail gate of a Holden ute. This about thirty or so years ago. Then the rod was valued at $300.00, a hell of a lot back then. I had to pay the $50.00 excess but the insurance company paid the difference.

I can't recall whether it was my content's or vehicle insurance I claimed on. The insurance company couldn't locate a replacement Orvis rod so they paid out the claim by cheque.
