I was just leaving Opotiki when it blew. By the time I got to Ohope is was ready for a photo with a 4km high plume of ash.
Acouple of hours later I took a look from Whakatane and there was no smoke in the sky at all.
Impressive!
The snapper don't know where the car park is!
