The mouth of the Tukituki River was the place to be today if you wanted some kahawai fun.
Thousands of kahawai invaded the rivermouth and estuary area. I enjoyed chcking out the tackle in use it was a good mix. I only wished I had my fly rod handy.

Kahawai came and went for the hour we were there and as they came ashore the coughed uo pilchards and anchovies.

I took time off the camera to catch one myself.
