Hi Carl , we were out testing the new CD XD surf both 13' 14' . I was casting a 5oz Scud and I must say they are both awesome for the very reasonable price of $299 . There wasn't much difference in distance between the two. Both rods have excellent tip recovery and I think they could be a little lighter than the original XDs
