I think threads like this are exciting and valuable, But I also feel that when someone states that they will be trying new things it is only fair to mention what they will be trying.

In writing ideas out you provide inspiration to the others that participate and also provide a discussion point for others who may have already tried and failed or succeeded in those avenues...

Lastly, Invoking Cunninghams law, an incorrect opinion soon gathers attention and then subsequently correction of the opinion follows.

As an example, I have looked at slide baiting into deep water in a local spot where I know there is a decent amount of top water fish. I can cast there but obviously the bait follows the sinker and goes to the bottom.

I have utilised floats but they have a habit of following the current or being at the mercy of the wind direction.

SO a slide bait clip with floats to keep the slide at the surface and using a longish trace is my next option.

Using balloons on ledger rigs at other areas where a stiff offshore wind is blowing where the ledger rig is secured to the Balloon with a U shaped section of rig through the balloon neck has been in the forefront of my thoughts - The idea is that with an appropriate reel and line capacity the rig can get out to a further distance than I can cast to see what lurks. The same delivery method would apply to a slide clip use. Once the distance is reached the idea is that the drag is set the balloon gradually frees its self from the line.

I don't wish to litter so may resort to the time honoured lifesaver and cotton solution in it's stead.

To me these are ideas to yet be tried. I have not invented these obviously as they are not likely new to many of you. But they will be new to some and thus have value in being committed to the thread.
