I have had some good fishing in the rough at Ocean Beach. It depends a lot on the formation of the beach at the time. When Campbell and I fished a rough day out there we nailed some 1 kg + Gurnard and kahawai over 2.5kgs.
Another rough day with James Parahi saw the lemonfish really on the bite. WE caught several including my biggest ever at 16.5kgs.
It is beautiful when its calm but worth a look when its rough. The water is always clean and that alone means that fish will come in.
