My choice would be Kairakau. Both beaches are very attractive, Kairakau is usually cleaner and kinder to the catch bag. Good chance of whitebait there also. Also Mangakuri beach 10 minutes south. Herbertville is a BIG beach with many fishing possibilities, miles of clean sandy beach with rocks and channels north and south. Very open to any southerly swell however. Good luck
