Took my 17 year old son out for a surfcast today at aotea harbour which is a nice easy area to fish for someone learning to cast as it has deep water in close, let him loose with the penn prevail and 850ssm and he had the first fish on the beach which was nice sized kahawai which was his first fish that was not the size of a sprat. Needless to say he is now very keen to get out for another go. On the flip side I caught three pan sized west coast snapper on the veritas so I too was a happy camper so it is pan fried snapper and kahawai for dinner tonight.
