For 'you people in the know' to have said south of Napier or north, as ever the case may be, would have given very little away other than given our new anglers a bit of hope and encouragement, personally I don't think that is too much to share. I video my spots so they are easily identifiable.
This is a site where many newcomers head to for that little extra knowledge, to improve their catch rate, many just want to catch their very first fish. Just recently the site has had a plethora of questions from new anglers hoping to get established, fortunately several members have raised their hands and pointed them in the right direction regarding tackle, bait how to rig etc.
When a thread like this is started, then after a few posts members say they have struck a purple patch, then this is followed by what amounts to 'secret squirrel', it saddens me. In fact this goes totally against the true camaraderie of the sport I love so well.
Nobody would ask you for the exact spot you fish but a guide in the general direction should do any harm whatsoever. This week a member shared their success in where they caught a very nice Kingfish. They had no hesitation in making LeQuense Road the headline of the thread.
Rex, I have known Dave Craft for thirty-eight years. We have fished together, shot together, both in the field and clay birds. We have played snooker together and I have fished from his boat (before it got stolen), on many occasions. I have always found his knowledge factual and helpful. As Crafty is a good regular sponsor to the Pania club, I believe he is worth far more than the way you have just presented him.
As for 'Those in the Know', well I guess that says it all. As I have already said, it saddens me.
