I have been using'Gemini Splash Down Solo' clips, usually available from this site but at present temporarily out of stock. I can say I have never once had a splash down clip fail to release, they do exactly as advertised.

They are limited in hook size, it is said they will only take up to a 4/0 hook. I use hooks I import from the UK, very sharp but made of very high quality steel, this means they are made thinner and stronger.

In theory the shields and the imps should work well, however both can suffer from a premature ejection, and no serious angler wants that to happen.
