The Brighton cast is another that works really well and is alot safer as the path of the lead is in a 180 degree straight line while others propel the lead in an arch outside the rod tip, and if notcontrolled or totally secure (shock leader and strong lead clip) could send the lead down the beach at approx 200km an hour!

For practical fishing the pendulum is not needed and unless people do not do the pendulum style well it is dangerous.
