Thanks for your response Bruce, but writing articles for NZFN isn't currently on my 50 big things to do before I die list.
However, if it was, I'd expect good money for it.

I had asked (in that earlier post you refer to) what the going cash rate for freelance articles was and there was no response, although mention was made that fishing-related products could be given in lieu of payment.

As far as contributing ideas or articles to a company are concerned, suffice it to say that I offered a really great idea, quite a few naive years ago, to a NZ tv channel by way of letter of suggestion.

No response, no thankyou for your idea, nothing, nada, jack.

I was looking for a change in employment at the time and saw this idea of mine as maybe a big chance to actually be paid to do something I love.... Dream jobs, they're called.

Much to my outrage, less than a year later, what appeared on the very same channel was almost exactly what I had suggested.
Obviously someone thought my ideas were pretty good and acted on it...and are still making a good living off it.

Therefore any commercial outfit that wants my future original ideas or work efforts will pay for them.

    So, there you have it.

If it's a user pays world, then up the cost to the advertisers able to claw back costs at tax time.
Don't bone out the poor reader by cranking up the price (Oops, too late!)and please don't jump on those that do voice their opinions about the magazine, for without acting upon customer feedback, whether it be for or against, how can any business survive?

Remember the difference between a grave and a rut is not just the depth... being made aware of the differences early enough can be a real bonus!
    Cheers
    Geno.
