    Well done Nick. I had a similar night at LQ
    Only thing was it must have been the granddaddy of the shark you lost because I spent about 30-45 mins playing that beast. I'm pretty sure it was a tope because it was approx 1.5 - 2 meters long. I was using a 27kg leader and no it wasn't tapered and yes the blob knot did hold and yes it did f@#$%^ n break 2cm leader side of blob.After sitting down nursing a very sore arm and putting another leader onto the mainline, tossed another ½ crab to jaws and spent another 20 mins with the same result. Result for the night...1 spool of extremely stretch line, 1 very sore arm, 1 exhilarated surfcaster (forgotton how much fun a good contest was)

    Sooo, Kane will be getting a visit to spool a reel

    and bloody hell there must have been one hell of a storm at sea. Gill rd high tide swell was about 6 ft from grass verge, LQ 15ft from edge of trees. Odd swell @ 10pm was in excess of 1.5 - 2m.
