Fish often dont bite keenly in winter. I have noticed if i just move my bait a fraction-i do this gently so i dont trip the wires on my breakaway sinker -a trevally or kahwai will bite. Yesterday boat fishing we had lots of fish on the sounder but timid bites -no fish in first 2 hours , then-by lifting the sinker a fraction and finely shaking the rod the snapper were induced into taking -ended up with a limit bag of good fish . Its got me thinking-i havnt much experience of soft baits but people tell me they need fine movement-fly fishers also induce takes. Feedback on others experiences would be welcome .
