Fired out the green tips 4-5mm the other day, then went dormant with the S/easters. We got the nice westerlies again now so will stand by and see if the warmer air encourages the buds to open up. A kontiki longliner friend tells me that he uprooted a good few carrots last weekend off Papamoa but has been having trouble with bitey sharks hiding in the same garden recently.Some of the carrots were somewhat grated!The little kahawai haven't run away yet either. Frosty went for a w/bait session and tells me he picked up a pound or there abouts, wouldn't let me anywhere near them tho! He also snatched a lemon while he was there so that's his tea sorted for a coupla days. I'm down to my last couple of kilos of snapper fillets, the gurnard and lemon is now all eaten but I'm not too concerned... I've still got some raw prawns as backup, if need be. Rotorua club's first field weekend is on the 8th of Sept... however with this weekend being Father's Day I'm keen to see if it's THIS particular father's day as well! I plan to go on Saturday arvo/eve, weather dependent. Gonna see if I can snatch a snap, but will be very grateful for anything edible. If Frosty can go out and catch stuff then I see even less reason why I can't! Stay tuned.
