Snap! We are on the same wavelength there Charlie. I am setting up similar gear here for the season. I see opportunities with a few different rigs. In strong current that will activate a wiggly tailed softbait a single ledger rig with a long hook trace and a float is the go. I have done well with these if only on kahawai and will be refining this rig as I go. With the crabs I have had surfprisingly good catch rates with a simple two hook ledger rig. On gurnard, kahawai and shoalie snapper the catch rate has been as good and better than bait for time spent. I want to fish these baits on the move for the gurnard though as it is so easy to miss them as they swim through your fishing area. Maybe a single hook running rig with a crab or a jig head will work. Lets keep talking as the season comes on and see what happens with the softies.
