We went thru all this just very recently here on TT Warwick. Type 'plastic' or 'rubber' into our search.. there's some good reading (and some telling off!)
I'm not buying into the hype either mate. But I stick to what I said about them being good when they're moving. I think old Charlie's on to it with his idea of a castable SP lure. As for very slowly retrieving them across the bottom... that's exactly what you do with real bait when you're after gurnard and other bottomfeeders,(works well on lemons!) so what we have here is now simply the plasticised version of that same strategy. Whether they work in the dark will be the real test. I know real bait works 24/7. Maybe SPs are daylight jobs only? Who knows?
