Nick, I'm not sure what's normal in September, other than I'm not the one who normally kicks off so early. Last spring I caught sod all. That was a crummy spring overall, but I've changed my location in line with what did happened at this time last year. If you can plonk baits right in front of them, that's always a help.
Gutted the fish this morning. They actually weighed 1.2kg and 3.6kg on my spring scales. The big one was chock full of roe and the gut cavity was dripping fat.
