I know that GULP swells up in water, which suggests to me that it's water soluble and may not swell up in oil. In any event, the GULP juice is likely to work better as an attractant than any oil. The new GULP is softer than the original.
I've caught a decent trevally on a GULP crab on a surf beach. It may be that they work better in moving water. There will be times when I want to cast a small, robust bait a long way to reach a channel or sandbar. I will keep GULP crabs on hand for that. Maybe the realistic appearance of these crabs will make them more useful for surfcasting than some other types. The only way to find out is to experiment. Most of you fish with two rods, so why not. Beats theorising on a board like this?
