    Hi All
Pendulum is not a dirty word, well not to me any way.

On my fishing trips to the beach I have been using the uni-tech cast or the otg.

On most days when the tide is low I head out to the beach and practice casting. Not only is it building up my physical side, it is teaching me timing and technique. No casting clinics down here sadly. One has to do it alone.

Several weeks ago it was practicing with my old Kilwell Glassie. Then I got my new Solaris. Gary made a reply that it was probably the best off the rack rod for casting and quoted achievable and proved casting distances. Well I struggled to get anywhere near them.

So I kept reading, viewing vids and practicing. And as I was doing so I was gaining confidence in the new rod and learning how to use it.

Well today it just all came together. I figured out that I was using to heavy a sinker for a learner pendulem caster. So I dropped down to a three ounce, I was using a five oz previous and even had a few trys with a six oz.

I did read that somebody said the Solaris loads best on five or six. That was why I tried that weight.

Any way off to the beach today and just said to myself, today is the day, now do it. First cast my sinker disappeared from my sight, wot a long retrieve. What did I do right, tried another, same result. The confidence started to sink in. I felt comfortable, wasn't killing myself either. Just a lazy arc then power on. And it kept working and it kept going even further, and my eyes got larger. I don't believe this. This is unreal. I started counting my retrieve times. And they started getting longer and longer. Finally I paced my longest cast. My pace is a measured 110 cms.

My best cast was 154 metres. It was sinker alone. So I am close to Palmetto's casting table, he quoted 160 yards. With an unbaited 3 oz.

I did about 30 all up and not a roughie. It just all came together.

So from a 80 metre man a few months ago I have certainly got into a real good learning curve.

As you know we have flat beaches here and a long cast greatly assists in getting the bait out there.

I am a happy chappie tonight.

    Cheers Trev
