Yep Palmetto. Used to do that a lot when I played golf. Angel thingies we used to call them. I must have been doing it right as after the lead landed I had quite a bit of slack line to wind in before I got tension on the lead. And that I guess was the parabolic curve, good grief I am getting technical. But yep she went up and out, rod tip pointed right, body facing into the cast, weight in all the right feet, and the way the line stripped off. Holy cimoli.

Had a 70lb tapered leader on. 4.2kg mainline. Now I see why they recommend 10lb line weight per ounce of sinker weight. Man that rod was bending over and I am only learning. This is a fun trip.

And I might add with a 70lb leader I don't think I will kill anybody. But I leave it on as slowly will move up to a 4oz , then a five, then a six and I am still well within the safety factor of 10 to one.

Found the heavier weights, no matter what cast get a bit testy on the finger. I do suffer from poor blood circulation in my fingers. And when they go white I cannot feel a thing, and then the casts go to hell. Am gonna use a casting glove . much like golfers wear. But in this case it is a lightweight diving glove. Soft leather on the underside and neoprene everywhere else. That should do the trick.

I acknowledge distance will go down with a bait on, even with a streamlined rig. But I am still going to get better than I have ever before. And that is a plus.

Like I said this is fun. It is a challenge to conquer and that is what I like, a challenge, its such a buzz when it all starts to come together.

For those that have followed my posts, you will see that I have certainly shared my failings and my success's from a born again ex avid surf caster to becoming a new chum and having to start all over again. So much better gear now. Better idea's, better everything actually.

And yep I'm getting better. But my head ain't swelling so I don't have to buy a new hat.

I'm still a new chum, just things are starting to work. I wanted to get all this sorted before the real fish arrive, hence my early start. My first snapper no matter what size will grace this board. Till they arrive I will keep practicing on KY

    Cheers Trev
