    Thanks Warwick. In a past life I was a fishing technical advisor! caught a twenty pounder one morning when field testing the Owner range!
    In terms of length of trace for the pulley it depends where you use it. Over rough ground such as reefs i would not go over a foot (30cm in length) as any longer could encourage the trace to tangle in the weed. For the open beach 24 to 30 inches or say 80to 90 cm seems to give enough movement for a float to be used.
    Circle hooks work well with the pulley again the fish pulls again the lead wires to ste the hook. I used the pulley exclusively for big fish in the hb as it gives a direct line through to a big fish and have a variation of it ready for the west coast once the seasons give better conditions. This uses the new Breakaway tethered clip which takes the tension off the components/trace which can be a problem at times when the pulley is cast with power.
