Apologies to the SFMB forum Archived Message

Tēnā tātau Ngāi Te Iwi Hī Ika (Seasons greetings to all members of the SFMB). First and foremost, I would like to apologize for turning this amazing message board into a place where somebody can start throwing personal attacks at my father. I never intended on creating such-a-thing. My post was for the concerned fishermen to go and talk with my father (who will welcome you open heartedly into his house) and answer any questions that you may have regarding the gate at the beach. I am hoping that those of you who are troubled about the gate will go out there and express your concerns only to be assured that you will have nothing to worry about.
Please leave your personal feelings off this site and confront him face to face. If you are trying to warn people about a mythical being that is always taking your bait, or tugging on your rod only to leave you disappointed and upset, then post that on here with your real name and details so that you can be honorably credited when you either: finally do land the big one, or just find out that it was only a harmless coota frustrating the hell out of you . Don't hide behind an alias and create mythical beings, leave that to our politicians.
I only ask one request; and that is for those fishermen that do want to talk to my father, can you please leave it for after the new year as we have just had a death in the family and he is supporting his brother through this ordeal.
I would like to leave the subject about the gate there for now and let the SFMB do it's job and talk / discuss / debate about the real matter, SURFCASTING.

For me being tangata whenua (a local boy) out at Waipuka, I must say that nothing much is happening out there at the mo. Maybe I'm fishing at the wrong spot down there? I've found that when I go out 3 hrs before high tide I'm getting fish (kahawai) However, I'm still wanting to catch my first snapper or gurnard. Chad told me that Waipātiki or Aropaoanui is good for snapper and that Waipuka is good for gurnard. Can anybody help, or even better, maybe show me a good spot at Waipuka. Chad told me a good spot, but I came up dry. I've fished The Ngaruroro mouth many of times and have had a lot of luck with kahawai. I'm open to suggestions. Love those pics of GaryKs I get to learn some of his fancy rigs

HAPPY NEW YEAR TO THE SFMB MEMBERS (it's s'pose to be a good day of fishing on Sunday....... I think still learning)
