It really depends on what the fishing times are i.e. 2 single day fishes or 1 over night fish. High tide at dusk and dawn and lowtide midday/midnight always good up your way.
The dates for the 2014 Nationals have been set and the fishing days are 27th & 28th March. High tides are 03:50 - 16:15 & 04:52 - 17:19 respectively. Just wondering how regular competitors thought about these times.
ABU I wouldn't be concerned about the tide times, they are really irrelevant to be fair. The most important aspect will be looking ahead at tidal flows. The larger the tides, the better off the fishing is. When the tides are very small, the fishing can be dead.
The reason the time of the tides doesn't matter is because it all depends on the location and weather conditions at the time. Surf beaches like BOP can be fantastic on the low tide at night, but it can also be choice on the high. If the contest was in HB, a beach like mahanga would be suited to a low tide, but a place like Whakaki is better over the high........
So my point is it doesn't really matter 2 5th's of bugger all. Low tides are better for rock access also...... So ether way, you will upset someone.Wairoa Hawkesbay
Its a test of skill and planning. Every angler will have the same conditions and tides to deal with so it makes no difference as far as the competition is concernedThe snapper don't know where the car park is! Sometimes it is better to travel than to arrive.
Calendar is full of zeros history has a couple of goods in morning and evening, Full moon and day after, those tides are big ones and fast moving though
