HANGLER! YOU MAY RECALL THE ABOVE FLOATS. 2ND GO WITH 6 OF THEM TO-DAY.TWO GURNARD ON STERIODS, HUGE FISH PLUS TWO COD, ONE ALSO A WHOPPER. ALL AS PER. FULL OF CRABS. A MATE CAUGHT 20LB SNAPPER YESTERDAY, ALSO LIKED CRABS ON HIS MENU.HAD ONE ONLY REAL CRAB HANGING UNDER CRAB FLOAT, THAT CAUGHT A FISH.

I have started using floats on my traces since I went to using pulley rigs soon as I went to an anti crab trace I got into the fish sold on using them now

Great going, Te-Hori. There is always something extra special in working something out for yourself and it proves to be successful.

Although I use floats on a long line, I prefer to keep the bait on the bottom when surfcasting. I usually do very well in the gurnard department and I am confident this is because my bait is hard on the seabed. If I use floats on the trace I find my gurnard numbers drop but my catches of Kahawhai increase.

Good on you for the work you put in on perfecting the crab float, great to read this is now paying dividends.

Kahawai Hangler, (fish of strong water or strong in the water).

The snapper don't know where the car park is!
Sometimes it is better to travel than to arrive.
