Shore caught Albacore?

Anyone heard of Albacore been taken from the Shore here in HB last Sunday???. Heard a rumor 3 were caught and positively Id'd . Sounds extremely odd.

Anythings possible, most probably off the rocks somewhere over there.
couple of snaps around over here, just back from Holiday, night in tonight, hit it tomorrow.

Who reckoned they caught them? and where? Pretty unusual and unlikely but anything is possible in fishing.

Someone was sounding me out for information on the rumor and had seen a picture(No landmarks) had been informed that 3 fish had been landed between the two anglers, one of which had broken one of there rods whilst playing it in. As for location it was not given out but mentioned as HawkesBay , caught from the shore, on fathers day. If they were caught and im not saying that i don't believe they wernt as mentioned above"anything is possible in fishing" id be guessing to say off the rocks maybe around Mahia??. Hopefully someone may shed some more information. I no we had experienced a few Skipjack tuna captures from shore a couple of seasons ago during feb/march both caught on bait and spinner amongst Kahawai boilups, and ive witnessed large boil ups with freejumping skippies as close as 200mtrs off Whirinaki reef before, but Albacore and this time of the year?. Very interesting.

4 albacore caught on fathers day afternoon in Clifton area, Hawkes Bay. Largest 27lb, all caught on soft bait/surfcasting rigs.

FYI
Very similar Lunar characteristics as Yesterday. and there was some beaut fish caught yesterday.

So last year there was Salmon, this year Tuna, whats next? Better add bonefish to my bucket list of locally caught fish.

Shore caught Albacore, in September, off a shallow mussel reef area?? Sounds like bullshit to me. Mid summer......... possible but not this time of year. Even the boaties have been into any winter albacore out wide. Someones telling porkies!!!

Right on James! Its always a mate of a mate that caught the fish! If its reported in the local rag with a photo of the happy angler with supporting mates who saw the whole happy affair.....it might be true. Otherwise forget it.

Reminds me of the rumour years ago of a dog tooth tuna supposedly caught at Plimmerton beside the road bridge over state highway 1 near Wellington.

The title of the bulletin in New Zealand Fishing News had a( ? )mark behind it James, just as my original post did too.
