HB Big snapper hangout

This area north of Whirinaki can produce some big spring snapper. Worth a look.

The snapper don't know where the car park is!
Sometimes it is better to travel than to arrive.

Taken from Tangoio looking back towards the river mouth? There's a mussel reef around the mouth there?

Tangoio is a great spot but I must be holding my tongue wrong cos the fish just don't co-operate. Will keep goin back tho, great place to chill out. The least important part of fishing is the fishing.

After a blow everything dislodged from the reef ends up in the Tangoio Bay. Also plenty of paddle crabs there. Not a bad place for smooth hounds either.Hopeless when flat calm.

They wernt hangn out at Te Awanga this evening. A coupla fat Kahawai and a couta. Bottom baits getting crabd during the lite and liced into the dark. As for the Te Ngae stream Tangoio side its bin spitting the odd nice Snap in the last coupla weeks. Chad any word on Whakaki area?. Thinkng of heading up for a throw. Its bin too long

Fished Tangoio tonight, lost 2 big fish there about 6.45pm thanks to bad knots?, or maybe my mainline is starting to get old.., then dead quiet apart from lemons.

Some big fulla's taken at Whakaki and Iwetea on longlines. I have not heard much on the rods. Boats are doing well of mahanga when weather allows, gurnard and snapper. Trawlers have moved in, smashing the 50m mark.

Chris Spurr got a nice 2.8k trev at Mahanga. Plenty of kahawai around, just a matter of waiting for the sea to settle. Looking alright when wind goes North, bit of swell, but OK water color.

Looking forward to day light savings, more time after work to get out.

Yes daylight savings can't come soon enough. I believe the reason why were getting an improvement on the Shore caught snapper fishes this early( or actually on time with earlier years) is down to a lot of easterly conditions. The next few weeks look set to be fantastic!. Thanks for the Report Chad, heres to a good spring run.

Was going to head up tonight, but just have to watch that boat race 2mrw eh

. Will head up after that. Looking a bit lumpy, but winds at the back, tides evening early and morning change of light, with a fairly full sorta moon, one would think a big Snap will be lurking. Heres hoping.

Conditions are big at the moment, but everything looks very favorable.

Wee delay. F### the race length time restriction!. Report is spineyz last nite and a trawler is towing close in along Whakaki

. Still this evening should be the time to strike.
