Quiet weekend

It was quiet times in the bay this weekend with most anglers missing out in the Pania Surfcasting Club field weekend.
Better times ahead we hope!

Good to see kahawai schools in chasing anchovies although most kahawai were under the club limit of 45cms.

The snapper don't know where the car park is!
Sometimes it is better to travel than to arrive.

Doesnt get much worse than that. Good conditions mostly here but a dead sea. Was it the earth quakes? Who knows?

Yeah Phill agreed. Not much selection eh. Used all my luck up on the Mid week assault and didn't have a weighable fish until 5am Sunday morning. Look at the sea temps after the two Southerly front we got last few days. Undid the good work of the last couple of weeks. Tues wed was 16 degree temps now 14 degree. Weekend looks better. I fished loisells beach up here in gizzy caught 8 kahawai all around the 2k mark couple of sholies and a big lemon was 6.1kg trunked then the nomnoms came in and bit me off a few times that was my bed call

the wind was intence at times get like i list a layer of skin

A hard days fishing beats a good day at work

Nice Aaron. Managed to prick a Blue Moki at the reef before sun up and a flurry of Kahawai at west shore to save the crappy weekend

. Try hit that Mohaka again early next week see if i can jam another coupla moochers

Hell, I sat at Whakaki last night in a pretty reasonable sea, red(s) shark(s) Bronzies, Spinies.................

I reakon the inside bay up this way may be getting a back draft in cold currents. It seems Waihua south has copious snapper, and north of Waihua inside the bay is friggin full of winter nasties still? Even with the kahawai, out of Waihua there is big work ups everywhere, and that continues through to Mohaka, yet north of the mouth is a complete different story. Hopefully it is just a current thing and it improves.

By the sounds of it Kane, that was a fantastic afternoon at Mohaka you had, thats good to hear. Longlines are bagging a few along Whirinaki too, should see some more taken on rods. Good year for biggies so far

Cheers. To bag two solid Snapper on 1st casts was exceptional. Customer of mine scored 6 fish to 7.5kg aswell. Wanted to hit it before that southerly pounced mid the next day. Kontikis are scoring solid Snappers at the 2km mark weekend gone along Le Quesne road, but im still picking time invested between Haumoana and Clifton in east conditions should produce the goods irrespective of tides. 5pm to 9pm seems to be the ideal productive Snapper bite times.
