surf casting large bait

New to board and looking for information on how to cast 25 maybe 30 ounces of weight plus bait 100 to 130 yards what do you guys recommend in spinning and are bait cast rig??

you would damn near need a rod built like a telephone pole and a very strong finger to cast almost 1Kg of bait and sinker.

Are you trying to catch bronze whalers with a bait that size?
A bait boat might be an option worth looking at.

Shark fishing and bull reds bait would be horse mullets whole are whiting, Location gulf coast! Second and third bar are aways from shore. Well whats the most weight thats possible to cast 100 plus yards??

So you guys are telling me it caint are has not been done yet? I was thinking that 20 plus ounces could be cast fairly easy over 100 yards with experenced surf fisher and the right equipment? Any and all responses are welcome !
I would really appreciate your imput on this!

4, 5, or 6 ounces of lead with an anchovies for bait in good conditions most people would get 90 to 100 mtrs. You need a no-return slider. Not to clued up on that stuff but sure sonmeone else will b able to help

Guys have cast it 170 odd m but you have to have a very good rod and bloody good technique add a big bait and you would have no chance I would say. Just too big and too much drag .

Just use a bait slider and a 6 oz breakout with the wires heavily set .

Whats yalls thought on this if I could allready cast 25 ounces over 100 yards with a 6 foot heavy rod with spinning reel? I maded this post to just see what you would think once I told yall I could allready cast that much weight over 100 yards! And I am being serious!!

Get a camera and record yourself doing it and post it on here mate. Where are you based? Ill come watch cause that would be impressive!! Alot of good casters and realistic people on this site. I can put a 200gram (7oz roughly)sinker and bait 80-100m. Love to see you cast 700grams. Would be funny I think.

Its a new invention I

designed, I have some video,s but I need to make one that doesnt
show my new invention up close not that I wouldnt like to but right now Im working with invention company in hopes of making this thing availible to the market. Im not able to put it out there but hopefully in the near future it will hit the market Ive gotta make some new videos for my portfolio ad so Ill try and make one I can post for you. Its a completly new form of casting. Thanks for all your imput. Im from the Gulf Coast near Houston Texas.
I named my new invention The Fishredeemer and hopefully it will still be called that once its marketible so you know where it came from.

So with your thingy how far can you launch a 100-150g sinker??
Is it assisted in in anyway i.e. Pneumatic or gas I'm starting to think spud gun.

150 grams with longer model 150 no problem. Its no gas are any other type of powered device.Its simple mechanics. Just in a different method of casting.

There's a few different devices the are the air and gas style spud guns then you have the mechanical line release thingy s the guys on here probably know of a few more. but to launch the weights your talking about I know of nothing.
Sounds like a good way to get a burley bomb out.

I suspect you may be using your 6ft rod as a "woomera" type device, a bit like a plastic tennis ball thrower for dog exercise?
Some years ago I experimented with such a device. It was attached to a boat rod for hurling frozen burley bombs out into the surf. good luck however with your system.

I can see you guys are quite intrigued by this.

A burley bomb is left over bits of fish/shell fish that have been ground up placed into a mould and then frozen into a solid cylindrical block. it is placed into a pot of similar size with holes drilled into it or made of mesh then placed in the water as it slowly thaws out bits come off the bomb and create a food and scent trail to get the fish into a feeding frenzy.

P.S. We use that amount of lead in deep water mainly when fishing for hapuka (100 metres +),I am still trying to get my head around, why you would even consider trying to cast that amount from shore,I watch with intrigue, (In a positive way)

I understand you! But we have strong tides and ripp currents here and a east wind most of the time. To get a large bait out you have to overcome its size somewhat with heavy weights that are useless with out having spider legs.
Sharks ,bull reds, black drum, and stingrays ,lots of water current. You put all these things together with at least 30 to 50 # line plus the fact the dep water where the fish are is a long ways from shore. No its not nessasary . But if your gonna fish for bigger fish its a whole different scene. I have used 40 lbs sand bag for shark fishing the surf and sometimes thats not enough to keep from washing out. Thats used when you yak a bait out several hundred yards from shore. Just fishing the piers and jetties with a big bait takes alot to holded the current.
