They should rename it Gurnard rock....

It can be 'just about anything' rock (or nothing at all rock)
No idea why its called snapper rock. Pretty sure other species caught there would outnumber snapper?

I've seen photos that prove it could be called "blind eel rock"

But I guess thats just not as inviting.

Yeh nice pics Tookey, makes me wish I had more annual leave. Don't know bout you other fishos but we catch bugger all from the rock itself but do ok either side. No snapper yet. Where are they?

I have never fished "the rock" but have caught fish either side like Fringsy. My best catch here was a 12 kg kingfish on a softbait. Snapper have been small and scarce for me but some good gurnard have come in at times at times.
It is a spot that can dissapoint because it looks so good. Generally if there are baitfiah around there will be bigger stuff available,

The snapper don't know where the car park is!
Sometimes it is better to travel than to arrive.
