New Threads.

I have never been afraid of controversy and I can't see that changing anytime soon.

This site has a very useful in-site message board. When you send a message the recipient will get notification at the top of the opening page there is a message waiting perusal. Why is it necessary to start a new thread just to tell someone they have a message?

Threads are for discussion, help, information etc, not to tell someone they have a message they are quite capable of seeing for themselves.

Rant over.

The "you have a message" feature only works if you are logged in (how else would the site know)
Many people don't have their browsers set to automatically log them in (its a security thing) so they have no idea they have a message unless they actually log in to post something.

It took me a while to spot Karvin's PM. Probably still wouldn't have seen it without him starting a thread.... so it works both ways.
