I have a similar issue with regular Oreos here. They just come in a small roll like McVities or whatever. You get maybe 10 in a pack. In the US, they just sell them in big boxes that have like 50 Oreos in them.
I suppose that cabinets are smaller here and people go shopping more frequently, though.
I do purchase the store-brand bagged cookies semi-regularly, though. You get five for a pound or whatever. I usually get the chocolate chip variety.
As for McVities, I've bought them ocassionally but it's been a good while. I like the raspberry ones. It's probably not raspberry but there's some mystery fruit-like objects in them.
In other news, I seem to be getting short days. I'm thinking that it's because I took him to task over this £18/hour versus £14/hour thing. So it's been all minimum days since then. Four hours is the minimum (although for other people it seems that three is the minimum so he pays different for different people which is bullshit). So if you work between 1 second and 4 hours it's four hours that you claim for. So...£72? Yeah.
But the joke's on him. I LIKE the short days. And £72 for doing ten minutes of work and then sitting at home watching daytime television? I'll take it.
Plus, there's this other company. I did a job for them a couple days ago and I'm doing a job for them next week. So...working for them too. And they pay like £16/hour, something like this.
So yeah, I mean, it's basically like being on Job Seekers Allowance. You're paid for doing nothing. It's awesome. But back when I was on Job Seekers Allowance it was like £72/week. I'm getting that in a day. Sweet.
What's the current JSA rate? Let's look. Weren't they changing to Universal Something?
Wow. £73.10 if you're over 25. What a joke. Actually, I must have been getting £69 but then I remember them raising it, probably to this £73.10. No raise in like eight years then.
But yeah, I'm going to Edinburgh tomorrow for a 2.00 start. I might be out of there by 3.00. Awesome stuff.
Moving on to my toenails. They're pretty messed up. When I was looking for flats, I walked a fair bit. I also had to buy new shoes so...I don't know. My big toenail on each foot got bruised.
The one on the left just had a small mark that eventually grew out. But the one on the right was bruised all the way down.
A couple weeks ago, it grew to the bruise mark and when I cut the nail, I sort of opened the seal. So now you can see the gap between my nail and the nailbed. It seems to go all the way down to the root but only on the inside half of the nail.
I can cut all of this nail out that's separated from the nail bed but since it goes so far down I don't want to. So just have to wait for it to grow some more and hope that it all heals correctly and re-attaches to the nail bed.
And the other foot that only had this small mark seems to be the more damaged. There's no sign of bruising but it hurts when you touch the nail. So I think that it is bruised just can't see it.
This has happened to be once before after wearing steel-toed boots for some construction job that I did for one day. I saw that it was bruised under the nail so I carefully put a pin into this bruised nail bed and it immediately started bleeding and the bruised area deflated, seperating from the nail. I was able to cut the nail way down after that and then I just waited for it to grow back and everything turned out fine.
