You don't have to be a US geography expert to see a pattern. Most of these people didn't move more than 10 miles from where they grew up.
I'm not saying move to Glasgow. That requires visas. It's not easy. But why did nobody move to California? Or New York? Or anywhere outside of the Midwest? Because they're not adventurous.
Okay, one guy did move to New York. I put "Small Town" because it's such a small town that I was worried he might Google the town's name and find this post. I mean, it's something but he didn't go to New York City.
And one woman moved to Luxembourg. That was only because she studied in Ireland and married an Irish guy she met there. I'm not totally detracting from things. It still counts. But I don't know. Just doesn't seem that impressive to me but I can't explain why.
Minnesota is in the Midwest, same as Indiana and Illinois.
Tennessee is in the South.
Well, that's it. Of the people whose Facebooks I know and listed a current city, only four left Indiana/Illinois. And nearly all of these people are still in Chicago/Northwest Indiana. I think only Bloomington isn't. That's in central Indiana. Whoa!
So only five people left Chicago/Northwest Indiana. That's pathetic. Less than 15%. 85% of my classmates could bicycle to their high school reunion. Maybe not comfortably. And there's not really many bike paths in this part of the country. But if they set out early and planned their journey well in advance, they could do it. Eighty-five percent.
There should be a reunion coming up. Maybe I missed it. I graduated in 1996. I'll have to RSVP that I can't go. Living in Glasgow.
Q: Glasgow, Alabama?
A: Nope
Q: Glasgow, California?
A: No.
Q: Glasgow, Delaware?
A: Sorry.
Q: Glasgow, Georgia?
A: Try again.
Q: Glasgow, Iowa; Glasgow, Illinois; Glasgow, Kentucky; Glasgow, Missouri; Glasgow, Montana; Glasgow, Columbiana County, Ohio; Glasgow, Tuscarawas County, Ohio; Glasgow, Oregon; Glasgow, Pennsylvania; Glasgow, Tennessee; Glasgow, Virginia; Glasgow, West Virginia?
A: No to all of those
I'm talking about Glasgow, Scotland.
I mean...as far as adventurism is concerned, just dominated these people. I wouldn't have even made my ten year reunion because I was in London.
And look at TIY -- TMB. Wymark: never moved. Louche: never moved. Richard Doyle: never moved. Slann: never moved.
If it weren't for Sleepyflower's attempt to find love in the desperate white man's last resort (Asia), we'd have a clean sweep.
Man, I have to make some chicken. It's just such a pain cutting it. It's gross. And you have to clean the counter thoroughly before and after because this stuff is so disease-ridden.
I bought pre-cut chicken once and that was awesome. So much easier to cook. Just throw it in the pan, cut some onions and peppers and you're done. But I can't find that shit at the stores around here.
Maybe there's like a slicer that they make for this. Well, maybe. But you're looking at £400. And I'm not sure this will even do what I want. Maybe these £10 poultry shears are what I'm looking for. I just need something to cut chicken breasts without making me gag. I hate touching that slimy shit. And often times you cut it and there's some really tough...I don't even know...white sinew that you can't cut through. Fat or something. Really nasty.
Although, I did figure out recently that you can use a fork to avoid touching the chicken while cutting. I'm not sure why it's taken me this long to figure this out.
