Other than abortion (which I don't have strong views on either way) I don't ascribe to these things and never have. Indeed, a large percentage of progressive people don't agree to these things as evidenced by the every homo/trans/modern feminism Guardian article that has 90% of the comments removed for "inappropriate content". They heavily censor their own readership for not agreeing with these core, fundamental issues of capitalist "leftism".
What I was more interested in is creating a system based on need rather than profit. I think that this is a much more important issue than whether or not there are 100 genders. But the disagreements between capitalism are so narrow that it's these weird, random, fringe topics that come to define "left" versus "right".
But in the sense of "leftist" as somebody who wants to topple the dictatorship of the capitalists and install a dictatorship of the proletariat, this is still a view that I hold. But you see these people handing out the socialist newspapers and behind the big red banners in front of parliament and whatnot and you see the practical problems. I don't want these assholes running the country. It's as Lao-Tzu said:
Leaders who want to govern are rare, ministers worthy of participation in government are virtually nonexistent. The rare seek the virtually nonexistent, this is the reason why perfect government is hardly seen once in a thousand years.
As to your German slur, it reminds me of a recent Youtube comment I saw. An Asian guy was asking the American in the Youtube video, "Are you English or German?" It's interesting that he knew the top two American ethnicities. We all know English, of course. But how many people, even Americans, are aware that German is in fact the number one ethnicity that Americans claim. English is number two.
This goes right back to the founding of this great land. Did you know that in 1790, census records indicate that nearly 9% of white Americans were of German ancestry?
Then the largest German immigration came between 1820 and 1917. Six million Germans came to the US. There were a lot of political refugees after the German revolutions of 1848–49 wherein the aristocracy put down popular revolts all across what was then a series of independent German states. So a lot of these people who held progressive ideas came to the US as immigrants.
Most Germans settled in the Midwest. This is perhaps why people don't know about just how many people of German descent are in the US. When people think of America, they usually think of New York and Los Angeles. They rarely think about Chicago, Milwaukee, and St Louis.
This information is all freely available on Wikipedia. They even state, "Many Germans in late 19th century cities were socialists; Germans played a significant role in the labor union movement. A few were anarchists. Six of the eight anarchist defendants in the Haymarket Affair of 1886 in Chicago were German."

However, as the German American article also says, today most German Americans are so assimilated that they no longer consider themselves German. That's true. That's why I've never described myself as German. But for some bizarre reason, you insist that I'm German. I mean, fine, it's no insult but it's not accurate.
I don't speak German. My father didn't speak German. His father didn't speak German. Perhaps even his father didn't speak German. How far back do we have to go?
People from Germany are Germans, not krauts. But what I am is a one hundred percent American, born and raised in the greatest country on earth and proud as hell of it, so don’t ever call me a kraut.
Man, am I getting shit done. Did two transcripts yesterday, although one was basically already finished from the day before and the other one was only 20 seconds. Still. That's two transcripts. And I did 30 minutes of this last bullshit transcript today. It's not due until January.
Next week I might be in India unless that fell through. I've been reading some terrifying stuff about bowel diseases that people have caught there. There's one where this guy was only there for a few months and now years later he still can't have a solid bowel movement and he shits blood on the regular.
I'm going to have to drink only Coke and eat only...I don't know...maybe they have Subways there.
Also, stories about beggars everywhere. And it being unsafe generally. I'm going to have to insist that I take a taxi everywhere. Maybe that's the case anyway. But no way am I taking public transportation, especially while wearing a suit.
Speaking of that, my suit it thick but I see that it's like 90 degrees fahrenheit there. I should buy a lighter suit. Just generally, I need another suit because I'm down to just the one and it's in bad shape. I also need to clean this one that I have. And have the hole in the pocket sewed. Fortunately, I'm not working this Thurdsay and Friday so can get stuff done then.
