I added onions to the mix but otherwise followed the recipe to the letter. My potatoes didn't even get remotely brown. They just stuck to the pan if I didn't move them around every few minutes.
"Hey, dumbass. Have you considered adding more oil?"
Yes, but two things.
1. I added exactly how much oil the recipe said to add (one tablespoon)
2. I don't have much oil left so I'm trying to ration it because I have to have food to last the next two days.
So it says the potatoes take 15 minutes to brown. I must have been cooking these things for an hour before they even started to get a bit soft. No browning.
All I'm effectively trying to make are potato wedges. So...maybe better to put them in the oven instead of frying them in a pan. But I don't have a cookie sheet. Can just use tinfoil, I guess.
Another option is to put them on my George Foreman Grill. Mine has a the normal pressing grill part but also a griddle section. That might work but it's kind of small and there are a lot of potatoes. I'd have to do them in probably three batches and I don't know how that would work time-wise.
Also, way too much garlic and salt and pepper. I used half as much garlic as they recommended for probably more potatoes than the recipe called for and it was still crazy, crazy spiced. It just tastes like raw potato with crushed garlic on it.
The onions and the bacon added something to the flavour but there wasn't enough of it. I think I overestimated how much 1.5 pounds of potatoes is. I used five small to medium sized potatoes. I have eight left.
I also have about two meals of this existing batch left to eat. I can't bring myself to eat it. Maybe I'll be hungry enough tomorrow.
I also have a couple of big Pot Noodles. And four pieces of bread. Salami. More bacon.
I have enough food to last Christmas. Even Boxing Day, but the stores should be open on Boxing Day. But I'm trying to find something else to eat because the last time I made these chicken fajitas, I ended up throwing the last 1/4 of it out because I just couldn't stomach this shit any more. And I'm allergic to something but I don't know what. So I'm having to eliminate loads of foods just in case.
If my ladyfriend moves in, that might resolve the issue. She's a vegetarian. Maybe the stuff she eats will be agreeable to me.
She's coming in four days, I think. Have to clean and whatnot. There's not that much to clean, I guess. I vacuumed just a couple weeks ago. I usually go months without vacuuming. Have to clean the toilet. Been putting that off. Kitchen sink and...whatever it's called...the burners. Tidy up the kitchen counter. Bunch of papers and shit on there. That's about it, really.
