There's a Steam page for it. It's coming out for PC, by the way. Coming out soon.
Oh man. I don't know where to begin.
It appears to be the same as previous games. Same 2d graphics, thousands of moves, deep AI customisation, wrestling matches, MMA matches, hardcore matches, whatever. That's great.
Only downside: only 30 wrestlers. But they're going to allow the community to contribute wrestlers that you can download. This is all to avoid copyright problems. Same reason there were almost no American wrestlers in Fire Pro Wrestling Z or Fire Pro Wrestling Returns.
So...it sucks because I never use created wrestlers. People make created wrestlers all the time but I don't use them because I don't know how accurate they are and how well they mesh with the in-game wrestlers. Still, I'll hopefully be able to go through the tedious process of importing all of the wrestlers from previous games into this new game. The new game is called Fire Pro Wrestling World, by the way.
I mean, it sucks because by this point, the roster is crazy out of date. For example, the Hulk Hogan is from Fire Pro Wrestling D. That game was released in 2001. And loads of American wrestlers made their final appearance in that game. So not only are they out of date but I don't have any rendition of American wrestlers who have appeared in the past 20 years or so. There's no John Cena, for example. Not that I'm into John Cena but just giving an example of a wrestler who has been at the top in WWE for the past 15 years or so. Totally absent from the game.
So it's disappointing but I can still play the game as a huge anthology of all the Fire Pro games. Hopefully. I don't know how many save slots they'll give you. Or how similar the wrestler creation process will be to previous games.
Also, online play will be a feature. I have to say, I've only played the game maybe ten times in my life. It's not the playing that I enjoy. Like many people with this game, I like to simulate CPU versus CPU matches.
I never got around to adding everybody to Fire Pro Wrestling Returns. I added about 95% of the guys but it wasn't 100% done. And I haven't played that game in years. It's just such a hassle getting the PS2 out, hoping that it works, using that boot CD. And not to mention, I don't have a television. I bought some program that allegedly would swap the saves from the PS2 memory card to the PC but I never even opened that package because of the lack of a tv. The idea was that if I could get the saves to my computer, I'd be able to play the game on an emulator.
So that's another thing. PC release. That's huge. I knew a game was in the works as long as it didn't look like shit (like that Fire Pro game for the Wii or whatever) I was prepared to buy a whole system. A PS4 or whatever it was coming out on. But no need. Coming out on Steam.
I'm cautiously optimistic. Oh man, I hope there's no DLC bullshit. I'd still probably buy it, sadly. It's looking pretty awesome so hopefully they don't mess anything up.
