Baron: (What? Is this thing today? I thought it was Sunday.)

(Baron checks emails)

Baron: (It IS Sunday. Fucking idiots. I'll just go back to sleep)

(Baron tries and fails to go back to sleep)

Baron: (This is ridiculous.)

Mohammad: Are you free today to do a transcript? It's two hours of audio of a confidential interview. It's due at 6.00 UAE time.

Baron: Yes, okay.

(Baron goes to take a dump)

Mohammad: Can you do it by 6.00?

Baron: Are there notes?

Mohammad: No notes.

Baron: Then no, sorry.

Mohammad: Oh. Okay, I understand.

6.00 "UAE time" would be 2.00 pm UK time. I got this text at 8.00 am. That gives me six hours to do this two hours of audio.

Doing a transcript where I'm using my (pretty bad) notes, it takes me about 2 hours to do 1 hour of audio.

With no notes at all, having to do everything from scratch, that's going to take 4 hours easy to do one hour of notes.

I assumed that this thing had the (good) notes of the woman who works there. So it wouldn't take much time at all to do.

So no, I can't do 8 hours of work in 6 hours, nor would I want to try. I don't imagine that this would be particularly lucrative work either. Not for the amount of work involved, certainly.

And that interview is undoubtedly of mediocre sound quality with two guys who barely speak English. So there's absolutely no way that that can be done in six hours by anyone.

I'm going to see how this job is on Sunday but if it's horrendous, I'm not going to bother with this Middle East crap any more. These people don't respect the sleep needs of the infidels and I'm getting a strong sweatshop vibe.
