hi i own a garage and my wife works in a recruitment agency i had always said i would not use one but after trying to source staff over the last few years i am slowly coming around to the idea, good points 1) not wasting time on first interviews and phone calls tying up your time 2) big agencys cover nationwide and can possibly catch someone that you would miss moving to your area especially when looking for a specialist 3)when you add up your costs time advertising etc it gets expensive, but there are also a lot of downsides 1)expense usually between £1500 to £3000 but you can barter 2) you need to spend time telling them exactly what you want but they are not in the motor trade so cannot unless good get to involved in the technical q,s and do not know if the applicant is giving the right answers, 3)you would still need to give the finalists a good interview and also ask to see the cv of the ones that didnt get through one may have slipped the net 4)if after a few weeks you can get rid if not suitable and refuse to pay fees. there are lots of other pros and cons but these days it very dificult to find good qualified staff so best of luck ps you only have to pay when they have filled the placement so if you are going to try you may as well sign up with a few cheers nick
