Most of the apprentices i started off with back in 1986 have left the trade and gone on to "better" things. I personally have just left the main dealer enviroment after 21 years (20 working for Saab) mainly because wages were decreasing and the job was getting ever harder.
After becoming a master technician several years ago I found i had to work harder on jobs that nobody (and i mean nobody)knew the answer to (usually some software issue) and after eventually fixing the problem, instead of a well done for fixing it, all i got was "why is your efficiency so low" or "sorry mate no bonus this month" I'm sorry but the modern motor car is a bloody nightmare, with managemnent on your back and a car that just won't play ball i am surprised we all haven't left the trade. I guess we're just NUTS !
Anyway I have now started my own business so at least I see the customer and they THANKS !
That is if I can fix their car !!!!
