I was off work recently and my wife thought that £9.00 a day sounded OK, so that was the figure given to the assessor. When I was told of the £9.00 per day storage charge I contacted a friend an he told me he charges £15.00 per day so obviously the sneaky assessor kept quite. Taking advantage?
The vehicle was an old transit that we had looked after for a number of years. Unfortunately it was stolen and although the toadies didn't get far they had caused damage to the steering column and gearbox, the owner wanted it repaired and we put in a contract repair price using second hand parts total around 550.00 inc Vat.This was refused. Our customer was given the brush off by the insurers and told that it would be collected. For the record he received £1,020.
We believe that because of the low storage costs the vehicle was left with us for 27 days.
When the driver eventually turned up to collect the vehicle we gave him the invoice for 27 days storage @ £19.00 per day!!! And he paid it. We were then contacted by the insurers who queried the amount and we simply told them it was an error on the assessors part! Cheque cleared so am happy.
So storage costs £513,repair cost w/be £550.00,insurers paid out £1020.00 plus our storage and the collection disposal costs.
Go figure.
