I had the same problem a few years ago with a speedo sensor for a Ford Probe that was over 10 years old and part was obsolete.
Might be worth seeing if your dealer can check for stock in the rest of Europe as my Ford dealer located the part I needed in Germany and it didn't actually cost that much extra to get it sent from there.
