That could be quite feasible
Us Independents are quite unaware as to how fast vehicle technology is moving
Jump into a BMW now and the electronics is more sophisticated than the space shuttle. I doubt the manufacturers are going to let Independent Garages tinker with these vehicles with our aftermarket scanners
Technical Data companies are now struggling to supply certain data as it is no longer available for them to purchase (at a reasonable cost) and reproduce, can you image a wiring diagram now for a BMW with all the connected modules. Subscribing to manufacturers websites will be the only sure way of getting accurate data
In 20 years time how many Independents will there be, old school Independents like me will be retired. Apprentices will be trained and retained at dealerships, how can an up an coming Independents justify the outlay for equipment and tech data
Sure there will always be work for brakes, shocks, timing belts and chains, but will there be enough to go round?
With all us older Independent retired or moved on, who are the Aftermarket Parts Suppliers going to sell their parts to?
Could end up with just 2 nationwide, few more takeovers on the way or some just giving up (such as UA)
