Re: credit card charges
Posted by Peter Warman on April 20, 2006, 1:14 pm, in reply to "credit card charges" I have been with Cardsave for about 6 years Terminal rental is £23.95 a month (payable quarterly), this does come with some benefits such as a legal help line and insurance against tax/vat investigation, see link below for all benefits Rates: Transactions are through Streamline Visa credit cards 1.25% Can take payments over the phone (card holder not present), but not Electron Money is usually credited after 3 working days I have had problems with terminals, but always fixed quickly and replacement terminals next day I purchase the terminal rolls through Viking Direct stationery supplies, work ok and much cheaper UKAT did strike up a deal with Cardsave a few years ago but i had know way of tracking who was signing up, so it was sidelined, maybe we should try again for members Hope this helps you and may be others Peter PS: I work on my own, and still get these rates which are pretty good, so don't let them give you any bunny about the size of your company. Print this page off to show them what rates you want . One last thing, i think it is a 4/5 year contract, so read the small print, will cost you to opt out

Posted by Ian Levings on April 20, 2006, 6:00 pm, in reply to "credit card charges" For your information, and help, I am a one person company, and get my credit/debit cards handled by bank of scotland, rates very similiar to those posted here, but being a moblie repair service I wanted to take cards away from my office, checked out mobile terminals same as snap-on and Mac Tools use, but monthly fee is high, I eventually found A company that lets you process, cards via your mobile phone, Works great! low cost, you do not need to worry about chip and pin, and I no longer accept cheques, everyone has a debit card. this company also can supply a mobile terminal for chip & pin, I think it is about £25.00 month total no other costs for cards, they use bank of ireland if you do not have a merchant account, so if you want to process cards while mobile at low cost check out Mobile point of sale at Adelante.co.uk Works great for me. Funds usually transfered into company bank account next day. Might be of use to others, transfered company account to the coop bank through the FSB. Gordon

Re: credit card charges
Posted by Michael Whitworth on July 23, 2006, 7:13 pm, in reply to "Re: credit card charges" Further to this post that was running recently I am looking at setting up card services But they have a setting up fee of £175 with cardnet I think. Is this a standard Set up fee or are others cheaper?? I will be using the figures listed above to help get a better deal but no one has mentioned this set up fee. Mike

Re: credit card charges
Posted by Peter Warman on July 24, 2006, 3:26 pm, in reply to "Re: credit card charges" Some companies will charge a setup fee, this may be the case if you are a new business Most existing customer can usually change to a rival who will wave a setup fee, and commission charges will be based on your expected turnover of card business each quarter, usually backed up with past statements As a new business you may have take what you can get, and then re negotiate after a year......i would try your bank first, as a new business you should not pay bank charges for the first year, so you can offset against any card setup fees......or build the cost into your pricing and invoices HTH Peter
